The American Dairy Goat Association Type Project is an initiative of
ADGA's
volunteer Type Committee and this
website is created
and maintained by them.
The intent is to
provide a resource for ADGA members interested in understanding
and improving type
characteristics in dairy goats.
This site is linked to the ADGA website as a
result of a cooperative agreement with ADGA.
The pictures and names of the
dairy goats shown here are those submitted voluntarily by the owners.
Data and Pictures of each individual are linked,
in a breed album and, in some cases, a breed table.
Click on one of the pictures below to
visit an album of pictures and data for that breed.
Currently, the Project has two elements
for each breed... To date, we have received and posted 219 photos and their associated data from 44 different breeders.
The standards of achievement to qualify were
set by the type committee for three categories:
There is more than one listing
for some goats,
in order to show their development and A link to
"Pedigree
Search" on the ADGA Genetics page is shown the bottom of each breed table,

a
spreadsheet of animal information and a linked picture archive
(breed tables & albums).
Members of ADGA voluntarily submit pictures
and baseline information about
their does and bucks of high achievement for the year of that achievement.
We verify information using ADGA records and, though this site is linked
to the ADGA Genetics base,
we share data only through cooperative agreement,
not as the official registry.
Information was
entered into a spreadsheet with a number of
parameters. If necessary, photos were
scanned,
reformatted, & labeled. The quality of the photo received sets the
quality of the photo displayed.
In a few cases, the image size was kept
small in order to provide a view that was not blurred in appearance.

with the exception of the Toggenburg and Nigerian Dwarf breeds. You
can view pedigree & performance data of an animal from
the table by
following that link and the instructions. We are in the process of revising the
format of the data presentation. For Toggenburg, Nigerian Dwarf, some Nubians &
some Alpines one can simply click
on the
goat's name in that breed's table to link to the pedigree and performance data from the
ADGA website.
This is an ongoing process and data are
entered as received, verified, and processed.
It is the intent of the Type Committee to
continue to improve this site as a more useful, searchable database
